Oracle Health announced a new strategic partnership with Meharry Medical College based in Nashville, Tennessee, to reduce the health disparities that currently prevail in the region and advance health technology through education and research. This partnership will tap into Oracle Health’s set of cloud-based and AI-driven clinical tools for more effective community care, driving wellness, and innovating health technology.
The initiative also will build a new hub for innovation around health technology education and research, with the first location established as a community care and wellness center in Nashville. The facilities will provide hands-on training and experiential learning to students and residents, enabling them to better engage and understand their patients. Cooperation will also support research efforts to further precision medicine, health informatics, and population health-by improving results in underserved communities.
One of the nation’s four historically Black academic health science centers, Meharry Medical College has served with mission-driven care for nearly 150 years. In describing the new partnership, Meharry Medical College President and CEO Dr. James E.K. Hildreth explained, “This is a pivotal moment for Meharry Medical College as we combine our long history of expertise in healthcare with the cutting-edge technology of Oracle Health in a model that stands as a new direction for equitable and community-centered care.”
The partners will closely engage with the local healthcare providers, public officials, health plans, and advocacy organizations to ensure this project meets community needs and advances regional healthcare access. This is especially important in the context of Nashville’s health disparities within which racial and income-related health gaps persist. Recent health surveys conducted by NashvilleHealth and the Metro Public Health Department have underscored these disparities.
